I have been puzzled by Josephine County's current commissioners delaying our library's lease. We all know a democracy depends on an educated population, and libraries provide easily available resources to gain that education. State efforts on vaccines are much appreciated
You don't see the value in public health when it's doing its job. Vaccines work. They keep us from dying! Yes, we still get COVID, flu and colds, but we are less likely to die if we have been vaccinated. Those who die are people who do not get vaccinated and now people who refuse the measles vaccine get sick and may die. Read More »

Keep 501(c)(3) nonprofits out of the political arena
A provision of Title 26 of the IRS tax code, commonly called the Johnson Amendment, is a neutrally applied law that properly bars any 501(c)(3) nonprofit (including churches, hospitals, etc.), from engaging in partisan politicking or using tax-deductible donations for political purposes. It simply states that tax-exempt groups may "not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office." Read More »
